I Love You Jun Matsumoto

"I will meet you soon my love. You and I will be together forever. There's no one else for Jun but me. I just won't allow him to be with anyone else."

Miki Yamada lived in Fukushima her entire life. As an only child, she was constantly pampered by her parents and treated as if the world revolved only around her. She did well in school. Participated in events, and always went home early. Miki was truly a good girl, but she had no friends. She spent most of her time in her bedroom daydreaming about male idols. One in particular that caught her attention was Arashi's most attractive member, Jun Matsumoto. Often times Miki would pretend to have conversations with Jun; sharing interests and hobbies. It was quite abnormal but very much close to reality for her. No one knew about Miki's secret obsession. She carried Jun's picture around in her purse, and would discretely take a glimpse at him during class session and while having lunch. At nights before she went to bed, Miki would place Jun's picture underneath her pillow but only after kissing him good night and wishing peaceful dreams. Indeed, no one could guess Miki's secret, for in their eyes she seemed logical and sane.

One can only imagine when this romance begun. Is it after seeing his drama "Gokusen", or being heartbroken after watching him kiss Mao Inoue in "Hana Yori Dango"? Not even Miki is certain of exactly how or when she developed these strong feelings for Jun; one thing is for sure, she is definitely serious about him. More serious than any other woman will ever be. Day after day Miki would contemplate how to meet Jun. Perhaps meeting at the Fuji-An garden in Shimo-fukushima Park? She imagined Jun confessing his love to her. That would be a dream come true, but Jun was mostly working in Tokyo along with the other members of Arashi. They had TV shows, commercials and dramas. When would Arashi perform in Osaka again? Miki had a serious expression on her face while staring at her reflection in the mirror. “The next time my love comes to Osaka I will definitely attend his concert and find a way to meet him." She made the promise to herself, but it was as if she made it with a friend.

It was a normal Wednesday morning, a day like no other. Miki did her usual routine: getting up at exactly 7:00 am, freshening up in the bathroom, getting dressed and then going downstairs to eat breakfast. Her mother prepared eggs, bacon, sausage, toast bread, and freshly squeezed orange juice; this was on the plate in front of her.

Miki:  “Nani?”

Mother: “what is it?”

Miki: “HaHa (NB: this means mother), doushite? What is the special occasion?”

Miki was surprised at the western dish her mother made, since normally she would make traditional food for breakfast.

Mother: “Ah!!! I have something important to tell you?”

Miki: “Nani? Nani?”

Mother: “When your father gets back, we’ll both tell you the good news.”

Miki’s father worked the early shift from 5:30am to 2:00pm as a designer for an architecture company.

Miki: “Hai, ittekimasu.”

Mother: “itterasshai.”

After finishing her breakfast Miki left for school. It was the final class for the day when out of the blue an ARASHI song started playing over the intercom.  The girls in the class started screaming out Jun’s name as if he were there in person. Miki was becoming infuriated because of how the girls were acting; she hated the fact that they were calling her man’s name. Then suddenly, Miki’s anger turned into happiness as a voice echoed in her head. It was her love, her life, her forever more, Jun Matsumoto.

Jun: “Ohayou, Kindai (NB: school name), Boku wa Matsumoto Jun desu”

The girls screamed in astonishment while the boys fumed.

Miki: “He’s here, he’s really here” She muttered to herself.

Jun: “ARASHI has been doing school tours for our variety show and our producers have selected Kindai High School as our next stop. So this Friday night in the school’s auditorium, we’ll be performing for all of you.

Miki: “It hurts, doushite? It really hurts” She says as she squeezes her chest tightly.  (doki toki)

All Miki could think about was the concert and her love for Matsumoto, and how she has to attend it no matter what.

Miki: “tadaima” She said as she entered her home.

Mother and Father: “okaeri”

Father: “What’s wrong with you?”

Miki realizes that she was daydreaming since the announcement, and has unconsciously walked home.

Miki: “Ah, what was it that you wanted to tell me?”

Father: “Well, as he stares at his wife giggling helplessly, I’ve been offered a chief architectural position with my company’s American branch and it’s double the amount of what I’m making now. So I accepted the offer and we’re leaving Thursday Night!”

Miki’s jaw dropped as the part“……..we’re leaving Thursday night” repeated over and over in her head. It was almost like a nightmare and she couldn’t wake up. Her parents realized her stunned expression, her stiff body and the fact that she hadn’t said anything for fifteen minutes.

Mother: “Miki, daijoubu?”

Miki snaps out of her trance and says: “hai, daijoubu desu. I was just surprised. Congratulations ChiChi, when should I start packing?”

Mother: “eto, you can start now……….”

MikiAHHHHHH! I will not make this happen; I’m going to marry you before I leave.”
